On Saturday July 28th, our first Volunteer Day took place. We went to the Tholoana ea Lerato Orphanage Home in Maseru, passed the day with the children and cooked for them. Through generous donations we were able to offer the kids fruits, snacks, juice and self-made hotdogs. As many Orphanage Homes in Lesotho are struggling with financial issues, they are only able to offer basic meals. Due to that, the lunch we brought, made the day special for the children. Additionally some people followed our request and brought toys and clothes for the children. When they received the small cars, planes and dolls, they were very happy and started with playing immediately. Moreover, we also hold discussions in small groups with the kids to talk about their experiences and future plans to help them opening up and support them, as many of the children are suffering from trauma from their experiences before coming to the orphanage home.

Our plan to give back to our community like they gave us worked out successful. We and the children enjoyed our time together and we are looking forward to the next time we can spend time with them.
